Not that I know of. The DIGITS function will ignore the sign, but it creates a character string. No way to convert back. SQL has had ABS since at least v3r2. Can you use a QMQRY instead? If you have Query Manager, you can use that - has Query/400-like interface. If not, you can create a QMQRY from source. Just create a source file with record length = 91 (don't ask). Then merely enter your SQL statement into it. Then CRTQMQRY. Run it with STRQMQRY.
