Well, I only use the Supplemental CD (#2) because it has a lot of useful
PDF files I can store on my hard drive for faster access. The actual
InfoCenter CD (#1) never quite worked right for me under Win2K. When
I click on the ILE/RPG Reference manual it tells me it can't find the
PDF manual -- which it shouldn't since _that_ CD only has HTML files
on it!

When the InfoCenter is installed locally, on your PC, no search
is available. Here is what the install wizard says:

"If you want to use the Information Center from your PC or a shared drive,
choose this option. It copies part or all of the Information Center to
a local or shared drive. Users can access the information, but will not
have search capability."

Supposedly, you can install it on your iSeries and have it served up
via HTTP, Apache/HTTP or WebSphere, etc. I don't know what the search
abilities would be -- presumably the same as online.

BTW, the install program was written in Java, it doesn't install
properly under Win2K when using the local option, etc....

Sorry, Dan. Basically, I can't answer your "search" question :-(
