I had a similar problem in V4R5, because the new twinax controllers supported higher speeds, but not all of the devices did. The result was intermittent problems. Terminals randomly dropping off line, etc. The solution was to create a data area with flags that told OS/400 to run the twinax controllers in "compatibility mode".
