Just to close this topic out, the problem was a loose SCSI cable -- the connector wasn't screwed down, and had been pulled out slightly when putting the back cover on. Once I put that in, it auto configured with no problems. The remaining problem with this tape drive is the auto changer continually jamming. If anyone knows a way to load tapes manually with this drive, I'd appreciate the pointers. We're trying to get the manual from the previous owner. And yes, I got what I paid for -- it was free <grin>. tia, Peter Dow Dow Software Services, Inc. 909 425-0194 voice 909 425-0196 fax ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Dow" <pcdow@yahoo.com> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Sunday, February 24, 2002 2:39 PM Subject: Memorex 5450 tape drive = what IBM tape drive? > Hi All, > > I have a Memorex 5450 tape drive and I need to know what model number to use > when creating a device description for it.
