The CRTMSGF command does not have a target release parameter. The logical conclusion, but not necessarily the correct one, would be it doesn't matter the release of the OS used to create one. As long as you save the object to the appropriate target release, or for that matter, the lowest release your save can use, you should be okay. Now if your production system is enough releases behind that your save command no longer supports it, you're probably stuck using a program to read the MNUCMD source and creating the message file. I believe this is what SDA does internally. There may be an API to do this. I have never been able to find a command to do it. Donald R.
