Did you run CHGDSTPWD ? >From PSP document SF98060: 5. 01/07/30 The following text is a rewrite of information contained within the V5R1M0 Memo To Users. V5R1M0 has replaced the Dedicated Service Tools (DST) user IDs with a more flexible security implementation. This new security implementation uses System Service Tools user profiles. V5R1M0 ships with 4 IBM-supplied System Service Tools user profiles and users can create a maximum of 100 additional ones. The passwords associated with the IBM-supplied System Service Tools user profiles are in UPPERCASE. The first time you sign-on using an IBM supplied userid and password, you will be prompted to change the password. When specifying a new password, remember that the password verification is now case sensitive. The IBM-supplied System Service Tools user profiles are: User Profile 11111111 22222222 QSRV QSECOFR User ID 11111111 22222222 QSRV QSECOFR Password 11111111 22222222 QSRV QSECOFR Beginning with V5R1M0, users running the OS/400 Start System Service Tools (STRSST) command will need to use a System Service Tools user profile. The execution of the STRSST command will result in the user being prompted for a valid System Service Tools user ID and password. Note: System Service tools user profiles are disabled based on sign-on attempts that are not valid. A user is allowed three consecutive failed attempts to sign-on. If the user successfully sign-on before failing a third time, the failed sign-on count is reset to zero. After the third failed attempt to sign-on, the System Service Tools user profile is disabled. The CHGDSTPWD command can be used to re-enable the security capable (QSECOFR) System Service Tools user profile. Using this command will cause both the user ID and password to be reset to the IBM-shipped values (QSECOFR/QSECOFR). Remember, the password is UPPERCASE. ...Neil "Leif Svalgaard" <leif@leif.org> Sent by: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com 2002/02/25 22:52 Please respond to midrange-l To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> cc: Subject: Re: DST From: Neil Palmer <neilp@dpslink.com> > Various excerpts from V5R1 Memo To Users: Thank you Neil for your effort. What bothers me is the statement that you have access to DST no matter what. This is clearly not the case.
