Please report any problems to david (at) midrange.com.

We use those switches and have the 2838 adapters. The lines are set for
auto speed and auto duplex. We have no problems. Our switches are set to
auto as well. I would check your cable run. Perhaps run a long patch
directly from your AS400 into your switch, if possible, for testing. Our
line is also configured to be on-line at IPL. Good Luck and contact me off
line if you would like.

Subject: V4R5, 2838 and 3Com

Hello everybody

Does someone know about physical network problems between 2838 ethernet
cards running on V4R5 systems and 3Com 3300 model switches ?

Sometimes, when the ethernet line is varied on after an IPL, it comes online
but no cummunication is possible.

FYI : we have tried all the combinations of speed/duplex auto-negociated or
not.
