Buck,
I am using the AFP 300.  I think you might be right about the clip size.
Just can't remember what the clips should be set at.  I'll have to try and
dig up my old notes this morning, but if you have the answer i'm listening.

Sounds like you may have used the wrong AFP printer driver.  Are you using a
600 dpi driver for a 300 dpi printer?  The driver also has settings for clip
size.
