Hi, what exactly involved in installing PGP on as/400? just uploading PGP binaries (what is that?) to IFS? I am not familiar with AIX but this looks like an opportunity to do so. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks. OK, I have a need to FTP some data but the client wants it encrypted. I figure I have two choices: 1) Get some SSL-enabled FTP client and server 2) Use PGP to encrypt the original file and then ftp that file I decided option 2 was interesting so I went to get the PGP source to see how hard it would be to port to the AS/400 when it struck me, I can run AIX binaries with PASE. One short trip to pgp.mit.edu and I had a zip of a tarball of PGP binaries compiled for AIX. I opened the zip in WinZip and then opened the tarball in WinZip and copied the contents to the IFS. A quick hop over to green screen land, start up QShell and I'm running PGP on the AS/400. In the immortal words of Tony, it's GRRRRRRRRRREAT! One question, is there a way to interact with the QSHELL environment that isn't as ugly as 5250 mode. QSHELL, like all unix, expects character at a time, not record at a time. The command-line hit, hit enter for program to see keystroke, interface is ugly when working with AIX stuff. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516)627-3800 x11 WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. ______________________________________________________________________ Important Email Information The information in this email is confidential and may be legally privileged.
