Jim,

That was 8mm which was the input tape (14GB with compression).
The tape I was copying to was a QIC SLR5-4GB tape (rated at 8GB with
compression).
I thought 13.7GB was a bit much for one of those.

default compression. our 8mm does 1 tape for approx 15 gig
