On a V4R4 box I use, I've needed to place both user and password on _the same_ line space separated, not on separate lines. I don't do enough FTP scripting to get a feel for the significance. All I know is that this change was the last change I made before the script worked on that box. Just presented FWIW; no guarantees. Might work for some at some time.
