:Buck, you are absolutely right, my minds eye remembered seeing
: x'00' where I knew there was a "DB2 Null Value" however
:today, I am looking in DBU, DSPPFM and seeing x'40' and no
:x'00' even where I know there is a DB2 null value!! I think I
:am ready for about 3 inches of a good single malt!

:>Yup, that x'00' is a null and you
:>will need to address it as
:>(is null | is not null)
:
:With the greatest of respect, the SQL concept of NULL is not
:the same as placing x'00' in a field. The confusion arises
:out of an unfortunate naming convention. SQL NULL is an
:attribute of the column, like size, type and text. SQL NULL
:is not related to the contents of the field, which can be
:other than x'00'. Likewise, placing x'00' in a null capable
:field means nothing to SQL. SQL NULL will be FALSE for that field.
