Try "where your_field is null " or "where substr(Your_field, 1, 1) = ' ' " Sincerely Domenico Finucci Fiditalia , Milano, 02- 4301-2494 -----Messaggio originale----- Da: MWalter@hanoverwire.com [mailto:MWalter@hanoverwire.com] Inviato: mercoledì 9 gennaio 2002 16.33 A: midrange-l@midrange.com Oggetto: Null or Blank Hello all, I have a database file that is populated from the results of an List API. I am having trouble doing an SQL over a field when it is blank. If I look at it with DSPPFM, it shows Hex '40'. However when I look at it using DBU, it shows hex '00'. I've tried both from VB and STRSQL to issue SQL commands over this file. I've tried field = ' ' and field is null. None of what I tried will retrieve any records. Any insight would be appreciated. The field in question is defined with DDS as10 Alpha Thanks, Mark Mark Walter Sr. Programmer/Analyst Hanover Wire Cloth a div of CCX, Inc. mwalter@hanoverwire.com http://www.hanoverwire.com 717.637.3795 Ext.3040 _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
