Duh, Is a good description Rob. What is it that you are attempting to verify ??? Carrier on the ISP to You Leg of a circuit ? Good MX records in a DNS server somewhere ? That the Frewall port is open and available ? That the network route tables are intact and active ? That the iSeries is powered up and operating ? That Domino is handling SMTP messages ? That the Network support people came to work on New Years Day ?? Ect............................... The simple answer is maybe a RPG or C program that opens a connection to your ISPs relay mail handler and verifies that it get's the proper response.. "220 mail.x.y.net ESMTP ..................."
