To: Jill Grine and All, One of the best things about the people of midrange-L is the willingness to take the time and help others, especially "newbies," with things that may be very trivial to them. IMO the IBM Midrange community is a close knit group, and one of the best "fraternities" around. All of the responses to Jill made me think of something. When the AS/400 was first announced we produced a fan-fold command cross reference card that showed all the S/36, S/38 and AS/400 commands. Some of the IBM SE's got ahold of them and would pull them out at a customer site, then we'd get a call from the customer wanting a copy. Soon we got requests from all over the counrty (and the world) for those cards, and had to print larger quantities. Later, we were contacted by NEWS 3X/400 magazine and the card was reproduced by them and included with a couple magazine issues. I looked and found that we still have a few hundred of them laying around, and for the price of a stamped, self addressed letter size (9x4)envelope, I would be happy to send one to anyone on the list who wants one. They would be handy for anyone who hasn't memorized the commands or learned to speak IBM's three letter (with exceptions) language. (Newbies, operators, occasional users, etc.) Send S.A.S.E. to: DCS Software and Services Attn: Jim Whalen 2610 Hwy 544 West Wylie, TX 75098 And Jill, be very careful. Once you get a taste of the iSeries (help facilities, prompting, commands that are easy to deduce, utilities built into the OS *"It's ALL in there!"*, logical files, etc., etc., etc.), you might not want to go back to your other job! There's a reason that many of us have been with the midrange line for 20 years or more.
