Basic iSeries operations (was: Probably very easy, Newbie question)

Hi Jill!
Is there absolutely nobody on site who's done any operations on the iSeries
(AS/400)?  You need somebody to walk you through some fundamentals on how to
interact with the system.  There is a hardcopy manual with the title of
Basic System Operations or some such that comes with the machine - It's a
pretty good starting place.

Of course, I can't find the darned operator's guide there.  Grrr.

Some basic basics:
When typing in commands, don't press Enter, press F4.
When looking at messages, move the cursor to the message and press F1.

Most system displays are some sort of list.  At the top is a list of
options; very often they don't all fit.  If that's the case, you'll see an
ellipsis: "..."  Press F23 to see more options.  What's F23?  That's
Shift+F11 (hold down the shift key whilst pressing F11).

At the bottom of the list is a list of function keys.  Very often they don't
all fit.  If that's the case, you'll see "F24=More keys"  Press F24 to see
additional function keys.

Most lists occupy more than one logical "page".  If that's the case, you'll
see "More..." or "+" at the lower right of the list body.  Press the Page
Down key to see the next page.  Page Up works the same way, except that you
don't see an indicator telling you that there's more "above."

F1=Help
F4=Prompt, or get a list
F3=Exit (usually all the way to the command line)
F12=Back up (poorly named Cancel, this generally takes you back one display)

F1 and F4 will never do anything "bad" on system displays, so feel free to
tap 'em at any time.
