No flame taken, Rick.  You're right: this NG suffers from frequent massive
posts with lots of rambling and little new material; the balance is requoted
posts.  Unfortunately, many of the longest posts have the least technical
content.  Newsgroups would lose much of their charm (?) without the
occasional foray into off-topicland, but MIDRANGE-L regularly deteriorates
into a one-man "let me tell you about my grandchildren" chat line when
private e-mail would be more appropriate.

I'm in favor of a liberal interpretation of what constitutes a "technical"
subject (i.e. tiered pricing, Fast 400) and I appreciate the frequent levity
(if not humor) as well, self-targeted or not.  Cutting out the requoting
would go a long way toward making this NG more readable.
