Not sure about the translation server simply because some of the "big boys"
are going to have better technology. However, the phone info lookup might be
of interest. If I was you I'd look to offer that service as a web service
using SOAP that way it would be accessible from just about any platform.

If we could make a translation server (running on a PC with one of the
mechanical translation programs) and serve it up to the AS/400 thru TCP/IP
and a callable object (or on a web server as an ASP
object) would this be of any use to anybody? I think it handles English to
and from Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, and German. We might also be
able to do Russian.

I'm in love with the idea, but I don't know if it is of any practical use to
anyone.

Or how about a USA phonebook server, same functionality. We use this sort of
thing to look up phone numbers of incoming calls on caller id and create
default fields for data entry.
