Not sure about the translation server simply because some of the "big boys" are going to have better technology. However, the phone info lookup might be of interest. If I was you I'd look to offer that service as a web service using SOAP that way it would be accessible from just about any platform. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516)627-3800 x11 WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com -----Original Message----- From: Brad Jensen [mailto:brad@elstore.com] Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2001 23:24 To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: translation server If we could make a translation server (running on a PC with one of the mechanical translation programs) and serve it up to the AS/400 thru TCP/IP and a callable object (or on a web server as an ASP object) would this be of any use to anybody? I think it handles English to and from Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, and German. We might also be able to do Russian. I'm in love with the idea, but I don't know if it is of any practical use to anyone. Or how about a USA phonebook server, same functionality. We use this sort of thing to look up phone numbers of incoming calls on caller id and create default fields for data entry.
