Correctish... You can not restore a save file directly from CD. You therefore have to copy the file from the CD first of all into a savefile (now standard stuff works). When saving a standard tapefile to a CD, the tapefile must not be compressed, or it all goes belly up. No such restriction on save files. There is also the option of using zip/gzip/zlib etc (there are several open source programs for this) when copying the data from the save file to a compressed file. The problems are 1. The length of time it can take on a slower 400 (like mine) and 2. The extra disk space it takes whilst creating the copy.
