Well, they basically beat me into submission. This program uses the VCP to check for the existence of the file. While it could be done within the CPP they don't believe they would check the parameters before doing any further processing. They would wait until they needed it. The problem is that it takes 20 minutes of run time before they need it. They do not feel it would be very popular for them. They decided that to balance the possibility of many new iSeries customers using Domino versus skilled programmers, that they would tilt the scale towards the new iSeries customers and give the skilled programmers a challenge to overcome - which we have. While I feel that a compromise would be to have the CPP check all parameters prior to execution I just decided that I don't feel this battle is worth the struggle. Are you attempting to create a CL program containing the CFGDOMSVR command? Do you get the error message when compiling or editing? Since the CPP for CFGDOMSVR doesn't run until the program runs I suspect a Validity Checking Program is sending the message. If that is true then I would APAR it as broken. It is wrong to check for the existence of any object in a VCP because the VCP runs during SEU edit sessions. It is wrong for the simple reason that the object may be created when the CL program runs and before the command in question is reached. Imagine how annoying it would be if all CL commands checked for the existing of objects during editing. Especially the common situation of: CRTDTAARA QTEMP/STUFF TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(50) CHGDTAARA QTEMP/STUFF ....
