A means it's expecting you to do something (though I've found that 'A'
codes don't always give you the chance to do something
6xx is hinting towards the LIC Machine Check handler
0244 is hinting that it's lost contact with a disk.
I think the number incrementing is a sign that the AS/400 is trying to get
faulty data of that disk and remove it from the RAID set.
I'd be ready to ring your hardware engineer soon...

that is?  The system is down, and the XX is slowly incrementing...
