I think the best financial investment is to: 1. Find the CD that came free with every AS/400, or order another from IBM if you have misplaced it. This was the on-line class in "Getting to know your AS/400" (fundamentals) that does in fact show everything that the AS/400 can do, excluding the internet aspects. You can get that by showing him book marks to great web sites that are powered by an AS/400, or utilize capabilities found on no other computer system, such as http://www.erros.co.uk/ & the review of significance of this approach at http://www.400times.co.uk/Documents/ERROS1.htm http://www.lansa.com click on Showcase check the archives for additional links 2. Get him the IBM education card & have him go to IBM school for classes at intervals of at least one class a month. He will come back from each class with tons of manuals, including the student handbook of the latest class, with tons of examples of how to do things. Being in Kansas City you have an advantage because one of the IBM University campuses is located right there. The advantage is over those of us who have to travel hundreds of miles to the closest IBM campus & arrange lodging in that community. So our financial trade-off is to find several adjacent needed classes of 2 days 3 days to cut the travel expenses in half. 3. If your site does not already have the News/400/network membership, get it. 4. Show him how to access the search engine archives of this list.
