A. Ports,

This is my understanding from one phone call I had with a man from England.
He said they hold user-group meetings in Churches and whatever local meeting
halls they can find, because they don't have a real strong, centralized
group like COMMON. They have similar things, but they're not as strong as
COMMON.

He also stated that news of the launching of the iNation spread extremely
rapidly... ***Strictly through word of mouth.*** He said they don't get a
lot of info over in England, like we do here (in the Colonies...;-) I was
surprised, and asked him again: "You mean news of the iNation spread
basically entirely by WOM over there...?" and he verified this as a fact.
He said there was A LOT of initial excitement.. (but that was back when the
iNation first started)...

I understand one phone call isn't a lot to go on... So I don't think I
over-emphasized this understanding, to make it out as a statement of fact...

(But I still think that shows the power of WOM...)

I believe it IS factual that EU has a VERY strong presence of iSeries, BTW.
I think that is due to less influence of "the conventional wisdom" and more
importance place on using the most economical solution for a particularly IT
problem. IMV, the EU and Asian/East-block countries (EMEA?) are GREAT
candidates for iSeries because they don't have the affluence to waste, that
companies in the US appear to have...

jt
