It was flagged to autostart, so I changed it to *NO.  By the way, as soon as
I sent the first message and went back to check on the jobs, they were no
longer running, but I had 823 job logs in the spool file!

Someone started your Line Printer Daemon.  To end, use the 'ENDTCPSVR
*LPD' command.  You may also want to check in your TCP program
attributes to verify that LPD is not flagged to autostart with TCP.
