NEWS RELEASE Nov. 2001 RRCC OFFERING NEW IBM ISERIES AS/400 CURRICULUM LAKEWOOD, CO -- Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood is now offering six new Computer Information Systems AS/400 courses beginning spring 2002 semester. Red Rocks is the only college in Colorado to provide training in this highly specialized and sought-after field. The iSeries (aka. AS/400) is one of IBM's greatest success stories; it is a family of highly integrated, scalable, multi-user servers designed to meet the needs of small businesses and departments, that can also expand to handle large corporations and government agencies across all industry segments. These four-credit courses (including lab) will be offered Saturdays or weekday evenings beginning January 26, 2002 to meet the needs of those with full-time jobs. CIS 250 AS/400 Operations and OS/400 Commands: This course is an introduction to operation and use of IBM iSeries AS/400 and the OS/400 operating system. Meets Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 26 to Mar 9. CIS 251 AS/400 DB2 Universal DataBase with SQL/400: Learn database administration skills with an emphasis on real-world relational database technology using IBM's DB2 UDB on iSeries and AS/400 systems. Meets Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 26 to Mar. 9. CIS 252 AS/400 Java for IBM iSeries Servers: Learn how to develop, compile, test and deploy Java applications on the IBM iSeries and AS/400 systems. Meets Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mar 16 to May 11. CIS 253 AS/400 Lotus Notes Domino Administration: Learn the skills needed by a System Administrator running Domino on the IBM iSeries and AS/400 systems. Meets Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mar 16 to May 11. CIS 254 AS/400 e-Business Development for WebSphere Application Server: Learn to develop Java Servlets that run under IBM's WebSphere Application Server on iSeries servers. First section meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Jan 28 to Mar 13. Second section meets on Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mar 16 to May 11. CIS 255 AS/400 ILE RPG IV Programming: This course covers how to develop and maintain OS/400 applications using IBM's ILE RPG IV, the latest version of the RPG programming language. Meets Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan 26 to Mar 9. Red Rocks Community College is a member of the IBM iSeries Partners in Education (PIE) program. To support various CIS courses, Red Rocks has installed an AS/400e Model 170 at the Lakewood campus, running OS/400 Version 5 Release 1, with Lotus Notes Domino and Websphere Application Server.
