I agree with most of Walden's comments: it /always/ causes more trouble than it's worth. If you have a level check, it's a programmer problem 100% of the time. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Walden H. It almost always causes more trouble then it's worth. Heba, is it possible that the logical isn't building over the physical you think it is? You say you're creating the logical in the CL, has the library list changed? Or could there be another copy of the physical higher in the list that the one you want to build the logical over? If you're getting the level-check error then there IS a problem, find that problem, don't ignore it. -Walden PS. If you must know, the LVLCHK parameter is on the CRTLF, CHGLF, CRTPF and CHGPF commands. We have got a CL program running at the end of day, this program creates a logical file from a dds stored in a source library and calls a number of RPG programs and then it deletes the file at the end. I understand that the RPG program opening this file can give a level check error message when something significant in the file is changed, but actually the Physical file structure and the logical file structure never changed. Once I get this problem I recompiled the RPG program and I thought that his should solve the problem. But the next time I got the same error message again. I check the record format level identifier of the file and the one used in the program compilation and to my surprise I found them the same...Could you please explain to me what I am missing or advise me what I should check else? Thanks in advance for your help Kind regards Heba _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
