You define the fact you wish to use an altenate collating sequence on your
DDS, via the ALTSEQ keyword. Then any key fields which you wish to use the
standard EBCDIC sort order must have NOALTSEQ defined on them.

ie

MYLF1

               ALTSEQ(MYTABLE)
R MYFMT PFILE(MYPF)
K FLD1 NOALTSEQ
K FLD2
K FLD3 NOALTSEQ

With the above example, the characters contained in FLD2 would be in the
order defined in your table.

You create the table via the CRTTBL command based upon a source file
member, in which you list all the hex characters, from 00 to FF, split into
8 lines of 32 pairs of hex codes. All you need to do is move the hex codes
ni the table to the sort position you require. Assuming in your example we
have groups ranging from character 1 to 9, then the only codes you need to
adjust are the F1 to F9 ones. ie say if you wish the sort order to be
3,2,1,4,5,6,8,7,9 the relevant part of the table would read
F3F2F1F4F5F6F8F7F9.

Not sure how this fits into your full requirement.
