Nathan,

That page does compare the latest version of WAS with a fairly
old version (in open source years) of Tomcat. I guess what they
are trying to say is if you want to do EJB's Tomcat does not fill
the bill. My experience on the AS/400 with EJB's led me to back
off because my machine did not have the necessary horsepower
and I found it was not necessary in our environment.

IBM implies that there is a scalability issue:

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/services/tomcat.h
tml

"Customers who require a robust and scalable web application server will
select WebSphere Application Server."

"Customers should select WebSphere Application Server when they need to
deploy e-business solutions that are J2EE compliant, provide the most
function and deliver the highest levels of reliability, scalability and
security."

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/product/limitatio
ns.html

"Known scalability problems may exist depending on the application which is
deployed."
