Peter, My guess: When the ToFile has REUSEDLT(*YES) and maybe the FromFile also has REUSEDLT(*YES), CPYF will perform a more low level copy of every rcd, deleted or not, in the file. Otherwise it just copies the undeleted rcds. To copy the deleted rcds, an EXCLRD lock is needed on the from file. Steve Richter
