You can't. You have to use DDS to create an indexed file. If you have a S/36 file with a key of 5 and a record length of 128, you'll create DDS like this: A Field1 5 A Field2 123 A K Field1 Process the file as program-described in your program. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Denis Robitaille Sent: Tuesday, October 23, 2001 9:14 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: How to create a jeyed file without DDS Hello all, In our effort to eliminate our S36 code, I was ask to develop a command to replace the BLDFILE instruction. This command will do some extra processing for us. My problem is the following: I have no problem creating a sequential file without a DDS source member but I do not know how to create a keyed file without a DDS source member. The CRTPF command does not offer me the option to specify a key. Any idea?
