As an opposing view, I've worked on IBM midranges for over 20 years, and I've never had a serious problem with the systems or support. I've worked with dozens of these machines on a daily basis over the years, and rarely did I have to open, much less update, a PMR. I have no open issues on my two machines, and don't remember the last time I had an open issue.
