One CL program can do multiple OPNQRYFs, however a CL program can only open and read a file one time. If the CL does the OPNQRYF which is then read by an RPG/COBOL/whatever program, then this can happen multiple times. When I have a need to have a CL do multiple OPNQRYFs for it's own behalf, I simply call a sub program to do my bidding. It's not as efficient as you might like, but it works well. CL is a wonderful language. It's too bad that not enough IBMers are CL literate. If more were, maybe they would extend it, which is essential for the future of the platform. OVRDBF ... Share(*Yes) 2. Performing an OPNQRYF selection 3. Does the Call to a COBOL program which reads sequentially thru the file. 4. DLTOVR 5. Then the program goes to sleep for 4 hours and then repeats again from step 1. It has been some time ago that I programmed an OPNQRYF statement but my memory seems to remind me that I could have a problem reading the file the 2nd time! Am I correct in assuming this? Is there an additional CL command I need to specify? During the sleep period additional records will be added to the file specified in the OPNQRYF selection Thanks Dennis Nel _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
