Ken, If you require a hot backup and you journal your application on your production machine then it is possible to use OS/400 Remote Journaling to your backup box and use a third party mirroring product to maintain a replica database on the 150. Remote Journaling takes the database changes to the backup box and they get applied in real-time. This is a good Disaster recovery strategy as you can keep the two machines as far apart as you want. OS/400 remote journaling works with TCP/IP, SNA or over VPN. A company called "Maximum Availability" market a product called "NoMax" which creates a backup database from the remote journal on the backup machine. It would be pretty cheap for the size of your machines. You can find out more at www.maxava.com. Otherwise - there is no reason why you can't use your 150 to backup your 170 in a 'warm' environment with manual tape backup and restore as long as you have the OS at the same level.
