I'm starting to setup a network with only IP Printers. I assumed that the remoteQ method was the only one that worked, as examples from Midrange computing seemed to show. Using LPD/LPR methods. Ive setup HP4000 and Xerox allinone HP Compatable using remoteQ and works fine. Problem was remoteQ dont seem to support Port numbers i need for other devices i have to print to ( seperate print server ). I hadnt heard that it could be setup as Direct Printer devices. ( and they seem to support Port # as well !!) Question is: - why use one or the other for printing to an IP network based printer? I'm on V4R5. And we may have up to 3 printers connected to a jet direct box, using ports 1 - 3... We had our outq's setup in the config to handle each port by using 'raw1' 'raw2' or 'raw3' however, IBM has suggested that instead our using remote writers from our outq's , that we should set up our printers as devices... But when we do this, it doesn't handle the jet direct boxes correctly... I was wondering if anyone knew how to set up these printers so I can tell it, what port to use? tia, tim _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
