Aha...I get it.  I think I missed the stored procedure line.  We have tons
of stored procs already that access AS/400 files and objects from the
windows platform.  Thanks,

Brad,

I think Tom's suggestion below about using a stored procedure would work
better.  Then it is only retrieving the value when requesting and you don't
need the CL program running continuously.
