No answers from me, just a similar situation and some thoughts.

You and I are probably at the same stage. I suspect I'll be moving to LDAP in 
one of the next phases of a project I've been working on. So far, I've been 
using QFilesvr.400 and IFS directories and stmfs to accomplish what I could 
maybe do better w/LDAP.

But I'm not yet convinced that "disaster tolerant" and "LDAP" belong together. 
My feeling has been that the 'L' of LDAP implies that it should be used where 
high-availability and disaster tolerance aren't required. Still it seems it 
must be implemented more or less as IFS directories and stmfs anyway. Maybe 
simple SAV/RSTs would be sufficient. If you'll be writing to both the client 
and server APIs, you might be able to provide your own internal tracking.

Best of luck. If you make any progress, you might be the LDAP expert on the 
list in no time.
