IBM Launches Comprehensive New eServer Web Site For Developers
ARMONK, NY--(INTERNET WIRE)--Aug 15, 2001-- IBM (NYSE: IBM - news) today
announced the IBM eServer Developer Domain, a new Web resource for
developers. The site offers developers everything they need to know about
using, optimizing and developing for IBM eServer products.
The IBM eServer Developer Domain, which went live today, is a companion site
to IBM's highly successful DB2, VisualAge and WebSphere Developer Domains.
All developer domains are directly accessible through IBM developerWorks, an
industry-wide information source for developers that attracts more than
eight million visitors per month.

"IBM eServer, a new class of servers launched by IBM just under a year ago,
is fast becoming the platform of choice for companies looking to build
scalable, reliable, cost-effective, and secure e-businesses," said Patrice
Mitchell, vice president, eServer solutions marketing, IBM Server Group.
"The spotlight continues to shine on the IBM eServer family, the
innovations, and the vast resources available to help developers enhance
already strong technical skills to develop solutions for IBM servers."

IBM servers are powered by such groundbreaking inventions as copper chips
and silicon-on- insulator, two of the many patented technologies shared on
IBM eServer systems. In addition, the servers continue to break new ground
in efforts to help establish Linux as the operating system of choice for
application development, and to exert leadership in emerging new areas such
as Grid computing and Project eLiza -- a multi-billion dollar initiative
aimed at creating servers that manage themselves, requiring little or no
human intervention.

The IBM eServer Developer Domain will serve as a highly visible window into
valuable information about these innovative servers. Developers worldwide
now have direct access to myriad resources, including:

*Product demonstrations, technical briefs, and original articles on how to
plan, install and implement eServer systems for maximum reliability,
scalability and performance;

*Technical red books and information on how to port applications to run on
IBM eServer products;

*Instructions and frequently asked questions (FAQ) on how to use some of the
industry's leading technologies such as Linux, WebSphere, DB2, Java, Domino,
Windows 2000/NT and XML with IBM servers; and

*IBM eServer consulting, training and installation services.

The IBM eServer Developer Domain URL is www-1.ibm.com/servers/esdd/.
