I've been asked to study the feasibility of using LDAP to replace a home-grown directory that encapsulates the corporate chain of command and responsibility. The original application has become so popular that it needs to be either heavily enhanced or replaced entirely. In the year or so since the app went on line, we've discovered that we need multiple corporate entities, cross-platform user validation, universal access to email address information, software access and database subset permissions, remote administration of branches of the directory, and on and on and on. Has anyone actually implemented something fairly substantial with LDAP? The platform doesn't seem to matter much. It appears there are a lot of potential pitfalls relating to the schema, and I'd really like to line up someone who can tell me how stupid my plans are if and when I actually start designing the thing. tia Pete Pete Hall pbhall@execpc.com http://www.execpc.com/~pbhall/ +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
