ads.midrange.com

I know almost nothing about how web pages work or what you call the part
of the URL that comes right after the http:// and before the first
period.  Normally this is "www", but in some cases it isn't.  When
trying to access any of the *.midrange.com site, and in particular
http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/, it seems that the browser gets
stuck with:

     Connect: Host ads.midrange.com contacted.  Waiting for reply.

which sits there for about two minutes, doing seemingly nothing.  Once
the "ads." message disappears, the rest of the page loads fairly
quickly.  I'm guessing that the ads.midrange.com is actually hitting
something external to David's server to fetch ads?  Is there any way to
speed up this page, either on my end or on David's?  Absolutely no
offense intended David!  I'm just not a good waiter!  ;-)
