Is it within the realm of possibility for me to install DASD and a 6501 card and get the AS/400 (9406, model 510, V3R7) to actually use it? The EMC DASD subsystem was actually installed into the expansion box (but was never connected to the system) over a year ago, but we made a bad assumption that we could attach it to another 6501 card which already had the 3590 tape subsystem attached. Now that we've got a spare 6501 card, and we're getting a little tight on disk space, we're itching to get this installed. Or is this C.E.-only territory? IBM wants $200 per hour to do this, which we would easily shell out for, but if this is a relatively simple install without an *easy* opportunity to hose the system, then I'd like to give it a go myself.
