An informal, shoot-the-breeze list would be of great benefit to those that have the time to pontificate endlessly on the means and motives of corporations and officers (IBM and otherwise), as well as a boon to those of us who do not have the time to weed through those posts. I just moved about 400+ unread emails to the "delete" folder - with topics such as "iNation", "AS400", "Midrange Computing...", "IBM getting rid of RPG", "iGreen...", "No Java in widows XP", "My XP got broke in a hailstorm", "The Future of Computing", and "Resignation from International Alliance.." etc. The sad part is that while there may have been good technical nuggets in a few of these threads, once a thread reaches the 15 email point, the signal to noise ratio tends to head right into the crapper, and I don't have the inclination to try to fish out the valuable nuggets. This list is a great technical resource, but there are many who participate because they value the sense of community this list fosters. Let's give those people a place to go - a shoot-the-breeze would be invaluable. JMHO, jte PS. And just for fun and irony, review the thread about Midrange Computing printing too many non-technical articles. Did you agree with the postings? And how do you feel about the volume of non-technical postings on this list? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
