I cannot comment on specifics, because I don't have them. Short on detail...long on unemployment :-)

However, I can tell you that there were 3 good offers, and one actual deal, on the table to buy MC from IIR. For whatever reason, however, IIR decided it would be easier on them to close the magazine in two or three days than it would have been to take 3 months to finalize a sale.

If you have specific questions, try writing directly to David Uptmoor, MC's publisher, at duptmoor@midrangecomputing.com.  He should still be getting email at that address for a couple more weeks, I think. I know that this closure caught him by surprise too, because from what I heard, he was actively working with the potential buyer's to finalize the deal.

I'll never understand the politics of business. At least I hope I never get so callous that business politics begin to make sense to me. <shudder!>
