Phil, I think there is too much "list-itis" on Midrange already. iNation is going to be another list like Web400; generating half a dozen messages per month at best. A specific Windows list won't be much better. Personally, I think Ignite has the right idea. They have one technical list, and one gab list. Anal-retention is kept to a minimum, so there's no need for a dozen lists. The greater the number of lists that are created, the greater the hassle to subscribe/unsubscribe, so I'm willing to bet that we'll be getting even more "out of office" messages than we already do. Why not have a single general-topics list where anything can be discussed. Most of these topics go on for a few days or so, then aren't brought up again for months. If and when a particular topic begins generating a sustained volume of traffic, *then* consider splintering the list.
