But I see OS and application software as being two different industries. They have two different uses, fill two different needs, have very different marketing requirements, etc. A customer can be in the market for the products from one of them without having an interest in buying a product from the other. In other words, an operating system cannot fill the needs of a guy who wants applications, and an application cannot fill the needs of a guy who wants and OS. That's how "desktops" and "servers" become different industries instead of just being counted as "computers." Does that make sense or am I still way off? Chris Rehm javadisciple@earthlink.net If you believe that the best technology wins the marketplace, you haven't been paying attention. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
