Worm Aims To Attack White House Site

The ultimate purpose of a recently identified worm that targets Microsoft
Web-server software is to launch a denial-of-service attack against the
White House Web site Thursday evening, security experts say. But the effect
on the Internet could be more widespread, they say.

About 100,000 Web servers have been infected with the "Code Red" worm,
which programmed them to attack whitehouse.gov with a flood of data by 5
p.m. Thursday, according to eEye Digital Security, based here.
