You can continue using DDM. DDM will function over IP just fine at V4R4 and above as far as I know. V4R3 and below may pose some difficulties, but I think there are ptf to allow DDM over IP. You'll have to check with your IBM rep. You can always switch to DRDA and use SQL to access your remote system. -- Gary Monnier garymon@powertechgroup.com The PowerTech Group 253.872.7788 PowerLock Network Security www.400security.com -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of StoneJ@GourmetAward.com Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2001 3:00 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: DDM equivalent using FTP I need to read records from a remote AS/400, and mark each record as processed. Currently we use an RPG program on a local system to read records through a DDM file providing a path to a logical file on a remote system. I can no longer use DDM because of company restrictions to move away from SNADS. Is there an equivalent AS/400 method to accomplish this with TCP or FTP, giving record level access to a remote file? PS The remote file expands hundreds of times throughout the day, and I need to pull all new records from the remote file.
