A "minor" difference I recall from OS/2 was that it was possible to have 
different settings (e.g., a unique AUTOEXEC.BAT) for every virtual DOS machine 
and you could have some large number of VDMs. This included running a different 
DOS altogether (i.e., different version, different vendor).
