Larry (and Neil): Yes, I noticed. But with part of the discussion going on about serial numbers, I thought at least one concrete caveat should be demonstrated. Clearly there are issues that need significant research by IBM. Isolating THE problem won't be enough since there must be multiple problems in this area, possibly with some masking others. OTOH, the problem I had was on a test/development box which can have PTFs at various levels. What's that mean to all this? I don't know except that everyone should be double-checking serial numbers carefully.
