  As I recall (From experience it works out....) when external drives
'dissappear' (power loss etc), the system displays an SRC like 9337xxxx
and waits a lot. Once the drives are back on line it basically take off
from where it stopped. Pretty darn nice I decided!  I believe this is
possible (my theory here) because the disk controller is still powered
and communicating with the processor. It's only the SCSI bus and down
stream devices that are 'missing in action' so the controller just keeps
on trying. If that controller loses power then things go much further
south very rapidly.

Oh and speaking of power. Yesterday while installing a new 820 when the
customer's computer room A/C just couldn't keep up they plugged in a
heavy duty fan.... Murphy had the day off because while the tripped
breaker in the UPS had been powering the phone system and the new
iSeries it was not the one for the production AS/400 or the NT servers.
