One day I get a call from a user. Her mouse is acting up. I go over to her PC and everything is fine. *shrug* As I'm going back to my office I see one of my operators chuckling, and see he has the other user's screen on his PC. I watch, and ever minute or so, he would wiggle the mouse, he had PC Anywhere 9.0 running to her PC. She would bang the mouse on the table to try to "fix" it and mutter. Then everything would seem to be okay for her, until a minute later when he would move the mouse again. *BANG* *BANG* *mutter* Another time, get a call from a user her screen is shaking. Shaking? I go look, it is fine. She says well, it was. *shrug* I get a call again, I have my operator go look at it. He sees it's fine, but as he's walking away he sees the user in the cubicle next to her turn back on the fan on his desk that's against the cubicle wall he monitor is on. It's doing it again! He runs over, the user turns the fan back off. This is really getting off topic, but YEARS ago we had figured out hot to write interactively to a screen when it was not general knowledge. We had a guy in doing some training with a junior programer and he was another know it all (we were NOT mean, I'm sure you understand the type of person I mean. There are very knowledgeable folks that don't act like it, are helpful and share, and don't flaunt it in your face - the ones I call know it all's are NOT like this...). So we wrote a program to "eat" the screen that was up (no matter what screen) character by character (could of course to a whole line). The junior programmer had been tipped off and she excused herself and came to us and said "You're not gonna BELIEVE this but the dude said it must have been something atmospheric !!" !!! We about died, and then changed so that after it "ate" the screen, it popped up the word A T M O S P H E R I C... Unfortunately that was intended for the next day and he never came back...
